Preparation for Adulthood
One of the most important aims which drives the work we do at Cloughwood Academy is for every young person to leave on a secure pathway to employment, further training or education. We are committed to this aim because we know that our pupils have a much greater chance of living happy, fulfilled lives if they have the knowledge and skills to live independently and to achieve their aspirations.
The Careers' curriculum at Cloughwood is designed to ensure your son will be well-equipped and confident to gain the best possible employment opportunity when they leave us.
We support our pupils to be prepared for adulthood in the following ways:
-
Utilising a specialist intervention called ABAS, we assess and track pupil progress towards independence.
-
Providing all pupils with a vocational offer which allows them to develop aspirations and gain valuable knowledge and skills.
-
Ensuring that all pupils receive Health and Relationship guidance.
-
Ensuring that pupils develop functional numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.
-
Allowing pupils to benefit from work placements with local organisations and businesses.
-
Ensuring that pupils receive quality Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).
-
Adhering to the principles set out by the Gatsby benchmark.
-
Facilitating high quality transition reviews, ensuring the best outcomes for pupils leaving the Academy.
-
Supporting pupils and parents to attend interviews for further training, education and employment.
-
Providing bespoke training packages for pupils in Sixth Form.
