Year 9 Options Information

Choosing the GCSE’s or vocational subjects to study in year 10 and 11 can be daunting but you need to give it as much thought and consideration as possible.

It is important you start to think about what you might want to study in the future. Whether you want an academic study path with A Levels, a vocational study path with BTEC and NVQ or a mixture of these. Apprenticeships are a popular choice where you can gain hands on work experience in a career whilst you learn. Or maybe the new T-Levels, the technical equivalent to A Levels, are more appropriate as in addition to the classroom-based learning you get with an A Level, you will also receive over 300 hours of industry work experience.

The important point is that to get onto any of these pathways whether you stay on at Cloughwood Academy or transfer to a local college, you will need to satisfy the entry requirements for the college you choose. Our local colleges have very specific entry requirements for their courses and we encourage you to read their prospectus documents to learn more about this.
