Welcome from the Chair of Governors

Welcome to Cloughwood Academy, the founder member of the Kaleidoscope Learning Trust.

Cloughwood caters for pupils aged 8–16 years but also has a Post 16 resource. We have a Residential Provision, where pupils can enjoy overnight stays or extended days.  Cloughwood caters for pupils with a range of needs, most of which can be described as Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).  Cloughwood is an innovative and forward-thinking school, recognised in its 'Outstanding’ Ofsted reports for both the school and the Residential Provision.

Primary offers a nurturing environment where pupils can gain confidence, resilience and independence, which allows them to transition seamlessly to secondary to continue their education.  Secondary offers a broad and balanced curriculum and pupils are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, supported by a dedicated and caring staff team. The opening of our post-16 provision has ensured our pupils can continue their education at Cloughwood and are fully prepared for ‘life after school’ and the world of work.

The Local Governing Body (LGB) comprises a maximum of 9 governors drawn from all walks of life and includes staff governors and parent governors.  It works as a committee of the Kaleidoscope Learning Trust – it acts in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation, which lays out the tasks that the Trust Board asks the LGB to carry out on its behalf.

I am extremely proud to be the Chair of the Local Governing Body and to be part of the growing community that is Cloughwood Academy, which truly lives up to its motto:

‘Be your best possible self

We, as governors, are fully committed to supporting the school, and we play an active part in ensuring that the school continues to grow and develop.
